How We Collect Poultry Rates
PoultryBaba publishes daily market rates for eggs, broiler chickens, day-old chicks, layer birds, and feed ingredients across Pakistan. This page explains exactly where that data comes from, how often it updates, and what its limitations are — so traders, farmers, and researchers can judge the numbers for themselves.
Data sources
Our rates come from three complementary sources. First, daily announced rates from major mandi (wholesale market) committees and trade associations in hub cities such as Lahore, Faisalabad, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Multan, and Peshawar. Second, actual farm-gate and market positions reported by our on-ground network of verified traders, farmers, and dealers who transact on the PoultryBaba platform. Third, trading activity on our own Murghi Mandi marketplace, which shows live buying and selling pressure at quoted prices.
Update schedule
Announced rates are updated every morning after mandi clearing, typically before noon Pakistan time. Actual market positions are updated through the trading day as our reporter network confirms transactions. Each rate page shows its own last-updated timestamp.
Hub reference rates for smaller cities
Pakistan's poultry trade clears through a limited number of major hub mandis. Smaller cities and tehsils usually do not have an independently announced rate — traders there settle deals against the nearest hub's benchmark. Where that is the case, our city pages clearly state that the displayed rate is a reference rate from the named hub (for example, Gojra referencing Faisalabad). We believe showing a clearly-labelled reference rate is more useful and more honest than showing nothing or inventing a local number.
Verification and corrections
Rates that deviate sharply from the previous session are re-checked with at least one additional market source before publication. If you believe a published rate is wrong, email support@poultrybaba.com — corrections are applied to the live page and noted in our internal log.
Limitations
Poultry prices in Pakistan are negotiated markets: the rate you transact at can differ from announced benchmarks depending on volume, quality, payment terms, and transport. Our data is market intelligence, not a price guarantee. Always confirm final pricing with your counterparty before committing to a trade.
